What Is a Line?
A line is a series of cells (machines) that can only run one product at a time, with the exception of running changeovers. While our products support running changeovers, this scenario should be disregarded for the purpose of determining the number of lines. Refer to "What about Running Changeovers?" below for more information. The scenarios shown below are intended to provide guidance, and should not be viewed as a limitation of Sepasoft Connect products. Please contact Sales with questions about line configurations not shown below.

Line Examples
In this line configuration, Cell B is dependent on Cell A, and can only run once it receives output from Cell A. Only one product can run at a time (excluding running changeovers). Therefore, this example is a single line.

This single-cell configuration is composed of only one cell (machine). This still qualifies as one line, as pricing is determined at the line level, not the cell level.

Some phases of the manufacturing process are more time consuming. To avoid bottlenecks, multiple cells of the same type may be incorporated into the same line as shown with Cell A1 and Cell A2 in this example. Only one product can run at any given time (excluding running changeovers) so this is one line.

Some phases of the manufacturing process are more time-consuming. To avoid bottlenecks, multiple cells of the same type may be incorporated into the same line as shown with Cell A1 and Cell A2 in this example. If only one product can run at any given time (excluding running changeovers), this qualifies as one line. If multiple unique products are produced (excluding running changeovers), then this qualifies as more than one line. In order to track data and efficiency for each unique product, a line license is required per product.

In this line configuration, Cell B input is composed of two unique parts. Cell B requires output from both Cell A and Cell Z. Since the primary line and sub-line are configured to produce one product at a time (excluding running changeovers), this is one line.

In this line configuration, Cell B separates Cell A input into two unique outputs (often seen in disassembly). The primary line can only run one product at a time (excluding running changeovers), so this is considered one line.

Running changeovers allow for two or more products to run on a production line simultaneously. While our products support running changeovers, this scenario be should disregarded for the purpose of determining the number of lines. This configuration is one line, despite two unique products running simultaneously.
